It’s National Comic Book Day, and it’s a real page-turner! That all started with the newspaper. If you’d like to join in and learn more, here are a few things to help you turn the page

In the late 1800s, newspapers were on the rise, so most started to add comic strips to boost sales. One of the most iconic ones that was pushed was The Yellow Kid, which appeared from 1895 to 1898. As time passed, Marvel had The Yellow Kid made his appearance in 2007 in Runaways volume 2, issue 2. They did this as a historical easter egg and to show their appreciation for comic strips.

Not sure where to start on the celebration. Below is a list of a few ideas.

  • Reread the comics you fell in love with as a child. See if the comics still hold up to your memory of them.
  • Spend all day reading that one comic you can’t seem to convince yourself to pick up but have been wanting to.
  • Make fun masks of your favorite superhero or villain with your kids or friends with a paper plate, string, and markers. Of course, add the signature blanket cape.

However you choose to celebrate, make sure you have the Wi-Fi power to fully enjoy it. Thinking your Wi-Fi is the villain? Call us for an upgrade. Let us be the hero in your story.

From all of us here at Straight Shot Wireless, we hope you have a Comic Book Day that’s faster than a speeding bullet and just as fun!
