World UFO Day is a global moment for sky-watchers, believers, skeptics, and those simply curious to come together and explore the mysteries of the universe. Whether you’re fascinated by extraterrestrial life or love a good cosmic celebration. Every June 24th and July 2nd is the perfect excuse to look up at the sky or to learn something new, all while having fun.

Two Days One Holiday

Both days were created to raise awareness about Unidentified Flying Objects. June 25th marks the first widely reported UFO sighting in U.S. history, reporting nine mysterious objects near Mount Rainier. This moment popularized the term “flying saucers” and kicked off modern UFO culture.

July 2nd marks the anniversary of the 1947 crash landing that put our small New Mexico town on the map as a UFO hotspot.

How it became a holiday

World UFO Day was first celebrated in 2001 by the World UFO Day Organization, a group committed to researching sightings and promoting open discussion of the unexplained phenomenon. They created the holiday to raise awareness, celebrate credible reports, and advocate for continued transparency and global access to government UFO records.
